The Yellow Car

A blue car drove down a large street
Brand new and excited to drive
Hoping that others he might meet
On the open road he felt alive

He went real fast, and very slow
His life`s purpose? He didn`t know
A sign read stop, in white and red
He slowed then stopped, is what he did

A mild irritation, to be told what to do,
Though it didn`t change his positive view.
He met others, while driving along
But no other car stayed for too long

He sped up, tires turning round
Till yellow lights said “slow it down”
Once again, annoyed feelings set in
He began to think, he couldn`t win

At the stoplight the blue car remained
Shuttering, puttering, his entire frame
The speed he had lost he wanted to regain
The road no longer felt quite the same

The light turned green, and he rev`d up
As he drove onward, forward,
He felt his tire lose a nut
The unseen goal he could not drive toward

Forced to stop for repairs on the side of the road
Waiting forever for a repair truck
So speed again he could begin to unfold
Feeling so down on his luck
He thought to himself “what the fuck’?

Fixed, repaired, he continued on
The initial joy he felt
Nixed, despaired , completely gone
Life had left him unfairly dealt
Like a child in a crash without a seatbelt

Still driving along, he felt lonely
In a traffic jam, but still empty
If only he could still be happy
If only another car, would drive along with he

The blue car was totally defeated
His RPMs had fully retreated
Maybe he needed an oil change
Would that his perspective rearrange?

The blue car was completely forlorn
His open road, had become his scorn
Depleted and his engine felt torn
His tires were kaput - utterly worn

Rolling forward with no hope
As if drawn by an invisible rope
His body shuttered with pain
And a loss seemed every gain

He stopped again, not for repair
But out of pure, hopeless despair
With a stressed sigh he would declare
“I feel as though I no longer care”!

What happened next he did not expect
Another vehicle he began to detect
She beeped at him, and he beeped back
She explained she knew of a close race track

They drove together her and he
He once again felt alive and free

Though the destination was not seen clearly
With her he`d spend their eternity.
