Almost Empty

Embracing the time alone
A chance to create a poem
That describes an empty home

Empty as the blank space
On the page – words erase
The façade they deface

No sounds from within
Except for thoughts that swim
Around a mind, they swirl and spin

Every room is hollow
Ceiling above, floor below
Dust on trinkets builds up, slow

Dirty clothes strewn everywhere
Tossed about, without any care
Silence and an empty stare

Within a poets lost glare
A glimmer of despair
Even when there appears nothing there
Painful – forgotten – memories fill the air.
